Started in 1995 when, as a US Army infantry officer, our founder Phil began helping and advising businesses in Colorado Springs, USA. For the next 20 years, Phil continued to apply his “infantry” and consulting skills to turning around businesses. He took successive executive leadership roles both within GE’s chemical businesses and eventually for various multinational and private equity firms. Nearly all of this roles were direct P&L leadership and chief executive of underperforming businesses. As demand for his turnaround skills grew, Phil re-started Innovative Directions in North Carolina in 2012. By 2015, his focus and work demand concentrated on East Asia, and as a result, he also established Innovative Directions Limited, Hong Kong.
Recently, Innovative Directions have branched out to launch ProactivE Accounting under the brand of PEA Services to offer full service accountancy with a specialty in re-building financials, getting our clients compliant, and, as they scale, helping them move accounting functions in house; and KY Solutions, a sourcing/trading service tapping into the team’s manufacturing and sourcing expertise in industrial chemicals, materials and consumer products, serving our clients ongoing needs for lower cost inputs or newer channels to market.

Holistic Approach
We expect to serve as key business leaders in client companies (CEO, CFO, etc) – responsible for full profit and loss. As a result, we look after the entire business to include human resources, financial, commercial and operational by keeping a core team of full-time and subject matter experts to dig into the people, financial, and operational effects of the turnaround and take ownership of the exit/sell process should you intend to exit.
We develop measurements such that we can see the effects of our efforts, learn from them, and adjust to optimize performance and leave our clients with a manageable and controllable process.
If our clients need more advisory and short term focus, we generally work with our Alliance Partners to minimize overhead costs.
